Department of Post Harvest Technology
Post harvest technology is one of the branches in horticulture. The Department of Post Harvest Technology has been functioning since 2016 as one of the major departments in SKCHS, Anantapur.
The main objective of the department is to impart basic knowledge to students on various aspects of post harvest techniques for different horticultural crops.
It aims to reduce post harvest losses of horticultural crops, enhance knowledge on packing materials, and improve processing techniques for fruits and vegetables to create various value-added products such as jams, jellies, candies, sauces, ketchup, pickles, and items that are dehydrated, frozen, or fermented.
This department is offering 3 courses for B.Sc (Hons) Horticulture as per the guidelines of Dr. YSR Horticulture University.

Postharvest laboratory facilities are specialized setups designed for studying, handling, and improving the quality and shelf-life of agricultural produce after harvesting.
These labs support research, education, and quality assurance in postharvest physiology, pathology, and technology.
