Department of Post Harvest Technology
Post harvest technology is one of the branches in horticulture. The department of post harvest technology was functioning since 2016 as one the major department in SKCHS Anantapur. The main objective of the department is to impart basic knowledge to the student on various aspects of post harvest techniques for different horticulture crops and to reduce the post harvest losses to horticulture crops, packing materials and processing of different fruits and vegetables for the preparation of various products like jam, jellies, candy, sauce, ketchup, pickles, etc.,. This department is offering 3 courses for B.Sc(Hons) horticulture viz., PHTH -2.5.1 - Fundamentals of food Technology,PHTH-3.5.1 - Postharvest management of Horticulture crops and PHTH-3.5.2 - Processing of Horticulture crops as per guidelines of Dr.YSR.Horticulture University. This department is maintaining well furnished laboratory with different instruments for carrying practical experiments of under graduate programme. This department is giving more emphasis to improve technical and practical skills of students by allowing them to operate instruments in the lab.
