SC/ST Cell
The SC-ST Cell, established in 2016, focuses on supporting and integrating students from Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) into the mainstream. These groups are identified as socially, economically, and educationally backward in Indian society. The cell aims to empower SC/ST students by providing financial assistance, career orientation programs, and various support initiatives.
Objectives:
- Reservation Roster Maintenance: Keep a record of reservation status for SC/ST in all university cadres.
- Rule of Reservation Implementation: Ensure the effective implementation of reservation rules for SC/ST candidates in university course admissions.
- Compliance with Guidelines: Follow Central/State/UGC guidelines for reservation.
- Grievance Committee: Establish and conduct a Grievance Committee for SC/ST-related issues.
- Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Celebrations: Organize events to celebrate Dr. B.R. Ambedkar's birthday and anniversaries.
- Special Coaching: Provide coaching for competitive exams, civil services (prelims), personality development, and communication skills.
Functions:
- Representation Handling: Address representations from SC/ST candidates regarding admission, recruitment, promotion, and related matters in the college.
- Grievance Redressal: Act as a Grievances Redressal Cell, helping SC/ST students and employees with academic problems.
- Exclusive Focus: Solely handle matters related to SC/ST, without other assigned tasks.
- Training Programs: Conduct or coordinate training programs for SC/ST students.
- Scholarship Coordination: Coordinate scholarship schemes benefiting SC/ST students.
The SC-ST Cell plays a crucial role in ensuring the welfare and progress of SC/ST students by promoting inclusivity, providing necessary support, and celebrating the contributions of leaders like Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
