Educational Tours and Field Visits

Horticulture is best learned in the field as well as in the classroom. Sri Krishnadevaraya College of Horticultural Sciences therefore takes its students on regular study tours and field visits. They go to research stations, farms, processing units, botanical gardens and agricultural institutions in and beyond Anantapuramu. Students see crops, orchards, protected cultivation and post-harvest handling at work, and they talk to the scientists and farmers who run them. Students also gain experience of how research reaches farmers. The documents below record these visits with photographs and details.

Day 1: Integrated Marketing and Producer’s Association (IMPA) Farms, Bidadi, Bangalore

Day 2: Mysuru

1. Mysore kaveri silk emporium, shukavanam (Indias largest Bonsai garden)
2. Mysore Palace
3. Brindavan Gardens is a show garden that has a botanical park with fountains as well as a world-famous musical fountain.

Day 3: Coorg

1. Coffee Research Substation (CRSS)
2. Central Horticultural Experiment Station
3. Kaveri visargadhama
4. Raja seat

Place of Visit : University of Agricultural Sciences , IIHR , Lalbagh garden Bangalore

Visit to Kempegowda International airport to expose students to landscaping work done around airport. Students were next taken to premiere agriculture university GKVK followed by Indian Institute of Horticulture Research and Lalbagh garden at Bengaluru.
